What are your subconscious rules for happiness?
We have rules we’ve created subconsciously about certain emotions we can and cannot feel. So for example, for me to feel happy, I have certain rules I’ve created and it’s all subconscious built up over the years or to feel freedom. I’ve had rules I’ve created. So for example, one of the rules I noticed with happiness is subconsciously if I feel like I can avoid responsibility, that makes me happy with freedom is if I feel like people can’t think they can tell me what to do, then I’ll feel free.
So the problem with these rules is obviously it puts things outside of myself. And can you imagine me trying to feel happy by avoiding responsibility yet also trying to be responsible and help others and create things to help others, there’s going to create an internal conflict. So if we sit there and we journal, what does it take for me to feel happy? What does it take for me to feel successful? We become aware of these rules.
