Don’t fight your brain
I still remember my second Ayahuasca journey. It was intense. Right when the Aya hit my system, I felt like demons were attacking me. And I attacked back.
The way I fought them was by channeling my inner energy and focus. I also used my hands, like a wizard, and would basically gather the “demonic” energy and shove it into the ground. The only way they would go and stay is if, in that moment, I had absolute certainty that they were in fact put away into the ground.
And doubt or hesitation and they would come back.
During my journey, as I was doing this, something kept happening over and over. Although I was successful in creating that absolute certainty belief over and over, no matter how much focus and energy I put in and no matter how hard I tried, a moment later new demons would come back.
I had been doing this for several hours and was getting exhausted. Then the thought came to me: “Instead of fighting them, what I just took a deep breath in and exhaled.”
I tried that and it was scary. My initial inclination was to fight the demons, and if I didn’t fight they would get me. But there was this pivotal moment where if I just took a breath and at the pivotal moment, allowed them in and didn’t fight them… the demons would disappear.
I did this a few times and was amazed. I was defeating the demons, but with only 1% of the effort I was previously outputting.
That’s when I began to realize the demons were just the fears in my head. They weren’t real. And they only had energy if I gave them energy. If I fought and attacked them, they would thrive on it. They would come back stronger.
But if I simply took a breath and didn’t give them my energy, the demons vanished.
It’s the same with our fear. 99.9999% of our fears are just thoughts. If we fear those thoughts, we give them energy. If we simply breath and let them pass, they disappear on their own.
I really understood then that Fear is

And when Mark Twain said “I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
Our brain will do what it does. We need not fight it. Just go to our breath, allow the thought o pass through and it will disappear.
